The concept is simple. Swap attendees bring a bag of clothing, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc. Both men and women are welcome to attend! Using the complimentary swag bags provided by SWAPmaine, attendees leave with a slew of new-to-them goodies. All proceeds and leftover clothing and accessories are donated to Goodwill Industries of Northern New England.
SWAPmaine was organized by a group of Portland bloggers who knew a city-wide swap was in dire need. The organizers behind the swap are Alexandra Munier (Broke207), Laura Serino (Fore Front Fashion), Ashley Jordan (Sweet William), Laura Duplissis (sweeter salt), and Kate Sullivan Jones (Sweet Disorder). With the support of Goodwill of Northern New England the swap has become a reality. Goodwill isn’t just a sponsor, they’re also the recipient of all the proceeds and leftover donations.

how do we sign up for the swap and get a bag to drop things off the week before?
Hi there! We’ll be posting drop off times soon. When the times are posted you’ll be able to pick a time to drop off and we’ll give you a ticket that will give you free entry. Follow our facebook and twitter for updates!
Times are posted above!
Do you ever do this in the Bangor area? Great idea!!
We haven’t yet – this is our first one! Hope you can make it to Portland on May 21!
How/where do we get the bags? How many items should we put in the bags? All seasons of clothing??
You’ll get the free swag bag on the day of the swap. If you want to drop off a bag (a plastic bag is perfect) you can drop it off at HeadGames at the times posted here: http://swapmaine.com/2011/05/02/drop-off-times-have-been-posted/). Whatever you can fit in the bag!
All seasons of clothing is fine – thanks!
Great concept! I’ll be there
